Size Guide
Our sizes are those of the maker, and letter sizes can run smaller than you are used to. So each product page gives the measurements of the piece in a table, size by size, in centimeters (in inches in the United States), and our size advice compares your measurements with the piece and names your size.
How to measure yourself
Measure over a thin shirt, keep the tape measure level and flat against your body, and compare the numbers with a piece you already own and like.
- Chest. Around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, with your arms relaxed.
- Waist. Around your waist, at the height where you usually wear your trousers.
- Hips. Around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
- Inseam. From the crotch straight down the inside of the leg to where you want the hem; easiest on a pair of trousers that fits you well.
- Neck. Around the base of your neck, with one finger between the tape and your skin.
- Shoulders. From one shoulder point to the other, across the back.
Not every table gives every measurement: the product page shows the ones the maker provides for that piece.
Shoes
Shoe sizes are European (EU). As a rough guide, a men's US size is the EU size minus 33: EU 42 is about a US 9, EU 44 about a US 11. The table on the product page gives the foot length in centimeters: put your heel against a wall, measure to the tip of your longest toe and compare with the table.
Between two sizes
Our size advice tells you which size to take, and why. As a general rule: for a coat worn over a sweater, or a sweater worn over a shirt, take the larger size; for a piece that is already cut loose, the smaller size keeps the intended line.
